I am currently completing my Masters in Counselling at City University and am a counselling practicum student at the Adler Centre in Vancouver, BC.
As a developing therapist, my orientations are in feminist, anti-oppressive, sex-positive and queer positive foundations. I also incorporate attachment and emotion focused theories into my practice and above all else, hold the client as the expert in their own healing. As a yoga teacher, I am curious about the somatic influences that mental wellness has on the body, and I am an advocate of breath work and meditation in all forms.
I have a special interest in relationships as well as with grief and loss. Whether you are experiencing challenges with your friends, colleagues or intimate partner(s), I seek to empower my clients to develop more effective communication strategies to improve relationship dynamics. Grief can be due to the loss of a loved one, but it can also be more ambiguous, such as when a person feels that their identity is not affirmed, or that oppressive social norms contribute to on-going marginalization and disenfranchisement. By looking at how dominant discourses contribute to our own narratives, I seek to walk along side clients as they re-write their narrative.
In addition to relationships and grief and loss, I help clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, attachment wounds, life transitions and more.
Outside of counselling, I am also a yoga teacher, a Dragon Boat racer and an avid outdoors enthusiast. Nature is medicine, and most weekends I can be found on our local beaches, cold plunging, or camping in the back country with my partner.
I truly see counselling as an honour to witness client's lives, dreams, desires and goals for their own flourishing. I would love to chat more about how I might be able to be a useful person in helping you reach these goals.
